Christian began this collection with a piece of wood, a bottle of black ink and some tape. The collection you see is the result of years of experimenting with these materials. In the beginning the work was primarily black and white shades, as the collection developed bursts of color made there way in. Christian’s work sometimes begins on the computer, where he generates geometric patterns which he transfers onto wood. He chooses to use wood instead of paper, because he feels that the wood has the strength and stability to show the history of each layer of the process.
